What Type of Skin Do I Have?

Every skin types can take benefit from daily cleansing and moisturizing, but everyone has different skin types, which include oily, dry, normal, combination and sensitive skin, each has its own needs — which is why understanding your skin type is the first step in nurturing for it. So the question is how you will be able to know your`s one? Don’t worry we will help you to know your own skin which helps you choosing the right product for you.

Step 1: Need to know your skin

You might have one of the 5 types of the skin. It can be Oily, Dry, Normal, Combination and Sensitive. The moment you understand your skin type you will be more able to select the right type of product variant for your skin.

Oily skin:

It produces an excess of sebum that causes the skin to appear shiny and feel greasy—especially on forehead, nose and chin. In case of you have oily skin you may be more likely to have enlarged pores, develop acne blemishes and be more prone to acne breakouts.

Dry skin:

It is more often dull and may become rough, flaky or even scaly. It often feels tight and may be prone to showing more visible lines. You might feel irritation and itchiness particularly in dry weather.

Normal skin:

It is more of a balanced skin type— you might not have either dry or oily skin. It is not prone to breakouts and acnes. You might have some open pores that are generally small, the skin's texture is smooth.

Combination skin:

It has the areas that are dry as well as oily—you might feel oily in your nose, chin and forehead area which is your T-Zone, and the cheeks being either dry or normal.

Sensitive skin:

It is also skin type where you can feel oil and sensitive skin, dry and sensitive skin or normal and sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, it may be red, feel like it's burning, itching or dry. This type of skin will be more susceptible to irritants and ingredients, like peroxides and some ecological factors. Consult dermatologist if you have sensitive skin type.

 

Step 2: Finding your Skin Type

Skin test can be identified by simple observation. You can perform 2 tests at home in just few minutes. By performing these tests you may be able to find your exact skin type.

Self-Observation Test:

This Self-observation test is very easy to perform and can be done easily at your home and in your room. You just need to wash your face first with any of your favorite cleanser and then gently pat it dry. Sit back and relax! If after 30 minutes your skin starts shining throughout you might have an oily one. But if after 30 minutes your skin starts getting dry and rough just like in winters you might have a dry one. If you observe the shining skin occurs on the T-ZONE you might have combination skin but if you feel super hydrated fresh, soft skin you have a good normal one. Above all if after washing your face if your skin is irritated or become swollen red you might have sensitive skin.

Blotting Sheets:

This is another simplest way of perform the skin test through blotting sheets. It absorb oil—and you can use them to understand your skin type. You just need to wash your face with any gentle cleanser and gently pat it dry. Again sit back and relax! Press blotting sheets to T-Zone of your face, then remove it and see the oil markings on the sheet. If you find oil in all areas of the face, you have oily skin, if it absorb little to no oil, you might have dry skin, if the sheets show only a little amount of oil from T-Zone, you might have combination skin, and if you observe very negligible oil on the sheet, you might have normal skin.
